Ok so this isn’t my first ever. But this is my first this year.

Somehow this year I haven’t been able to get it together, mentally. Due to going hard on the beers in the winter/spring I’m actually slower in my running still than I was last year. My weight had gotten up to 260. As of this morning it’s 254. A 2 day fast will probably knock me down to 249, I know it will feel good.

Last year fasting was a big part of my improvements. I’ve slipped back, but heck. I can go forward again. It’s like when I quit smoking. Had to do it 3 times before it really took.

So this weekend I’m doing a 2 day fast! I’m still undecided on whether I want to go 48 hours and eat Sunday evening, or go until Monday morning. Fasting causes stuff to happen in the body, and some of the most important stuff only happens after 48 hours. Then again, if I don’t eat Sunday night, I’ll be dead slow on my Monday run. So I’ll play it by ear.

Let the fasting start!

Day 1: 4PM

So Here I am. I’m actually writing this at 4PM on a Saturday, already probably a good 14-16 hours in. Let’s see how it goes. Right now I’m drinking coffee. It’s late, but my tolerance is high. It’s taking the edge off my food cravings. Only 32-ish hours to go (assuming I quit at 48) ..

Day 1: 7 PM

I drink my vitamin mix, it’s a pre-workout but it’s crammed so full of vitamins that I think it’s good even with a fast. (I also mix it with creatine and some other, amino-acid supplements that have been shown to marginally improve mental and cardio performance). Along with the vitamin mix, I mix in a spoon of Chicken based collagen, the first calories I have had in the day (if you don’t count the coffee). It’s very few though.

Day 1: 11 PM

I take my nightly mix of resveratrol, and various anti-inflammatory and antioxidant supplements mixed into some extra virgin olive oil. A couple spoonful has a couple hundred calories, but overall, I estimate my calorie intake to be under 300 for the day.

Day 1: 12 AM

I’m not tired at all, so I decide to go play video games until I fall asleep. Plus, being in bed gets me farther away from the fridge and increase my chances considerably. I play the new Zelda game for probably about an hour then turn out the lights.

Day 2: 5 AM

I wake up, I had forgotten I was fasting. I feel fine. Now at 6 AM as I’m writing this, I’ve had my coffee, used the bathroom (a bit of diarrhea actually, sorry if that’s TMI), and I’m basically wondering why I’m up so early on a Sunday. Oh well.

Day 12: 12 PM

Hungry, but also, with no desire to eat. Since I was up so early, I have burned through my coffee a couple hours earlier than usual (I usually make a lot and it lasts until early afternoon haha). Switched to tea a bit after 11, on 2nd cup.

Day 12: 1:30 PM

Took a nap against my better judgement haha. I didn’t felt like I slept much, but I did have a dream, so I must have slept some. Also, knocking a couple hours off the day’s clock greatly increased my chances of mking it.

Day 2 : 5 PM

More vitamin and collegen mix! Forgot to take the joint and calcium supplements. I’ll take them with my anti-oxidents later. The vitamin mix got my stomach rumbling again haha hope it doesn’t backfire on me.

Day 2: 10 PM

Well it’s been 48 hours, well, 46-47. I forget what time I had my last snack on Friday haha. I decided to have a small dinner 🙂 (Truthfully the leftover Chipotle from a couple days before in the ‘fridge was calling to me – and I was wrapped up trying to focus on things but kept having hunger cravings)

Could I have made it ot the morning? Sure. Should I have? Yes. I would have had to go to bed earlier. That’s all it would have taken. Still I made it Allllmost 48 hours – which counts as 2 day. Tomorrow I start running again, and at least with the small dinner I’ve had, I’ll be fueled up!

My total calorie count for the two days was probably under 1000. It wasn’t a lot of Chipotle, after all. Just half a burrito bowl, plus some slices of cheese and some milk haha to kinda go with it.

Maybe next time I’ll try to go a full 56. Assuming you’re otherwise normally fed, once you start getting over 2 days they say your stem cells start kickin’ in and your HGH starts spiking up ..

.. but for now, I made it (nearly) 2 days. I’m fine with the that 🙂

End Result: down 7 lbs (mostly water I know haha but still)
